Fall Is the Right Time to Upgrade Your Air Conditioning System

Sunday, September 23rd, 2018

onyx-unitI just stuck my sensitive canine nose out the door to test the weather. Yep, it’s still pretty warm out there. But my nose can also sense the approaching change in the weather. It might not be obvious to your human noses yet, but you’ll soon see that change in color in the leaves. (I don’t have the best color vision, but my spectacular sense of smell and hearing really make up for it!)

So what’s this mean for your air conditioning, you want to know? I mean, if it’s soon going to cool down out here, why worry about it? First, it’s important to remember that AC repair in Knoxville, TN is still important as long as you’re running the AC. Second, we’ve got an offer at Russell & Abbott that makes this fall a fantastic time to upgrade your old AC system to something great.

The “Repair or Replace” Question Gets Easier With Our Onyx Equipment Offer!

Monday, August 27th, 2018

onyx_logoI recently watched a movie in theaters (as a local celebrity, I get discounts) about how humans and dogs first became friends. The movie shows how we dogs helped humans survive and have better lives. I now feel super-empowered, and I want to make sure I’m doing my canine part to improve the lives of the humans around me and make their struggles easier.

Your Air Conditioning Warranty: Give It a Close Look

Monday, April 9th, 2018

onyx_logoA warranty is a warranty, right? It’s there to protect you if something goes wrong with your equipment from something that wasn’t your fault, like a manufacturing defect. So it’s not much more tricky than that … right?

Ah, my dear readers, it’s never that simple! Not all warranties are the same, and not all warranties are equal. When you’re considering a new air conditioning system installation, I recommend you give the warranty a really close look. Like, do a full bloodhound investigation on it. I’ve got a pretty sharp nose like all dogs, but even I have to admit, those bloodhounds are the best when it comes to finding the best. And I got a bloodhound friend of mine named Baskerville to help me out on this post: we looked over the warranties of nine other manufacturers and compared them to the Russell & Abbott Onyx Hardcore warranty. Here’s what we found!

Ways to Get the Coolest Cooling from Your AC

Monday, March 26th, 2018

air-conditioner-on-leavesSummer time, wooo! Okay, actually it’s spring time—and the weather isn’t yet at the point where I can start quoting great song lyrics about summer warmth. (Also, I checked: quoting song lyrics is kind of a “no-no,” and I am very law abiding dog.) But, it is spring, and that means I can officially put on my “AC Expert” bandana and give you some advice on how to get your air conditioning system ready for warm weather so you’ll get the most out of it.

Hey Olive, What’s This “Onyx” Stuff?

Tuesday, February 27th, 2018

onyx_logoIf you’ve skimmed around my blog or maybe our site, you’ve probably noticed that I talk about “Onyx” a lot. I recommend it often. I don’t do that for just anything. For example, my taste in dog food runs to the high-quality canned food from specialty pet stores, not the discount cans from the supermarket that hardly have any meat in them. That’s not being picky—that’s just being a smart canine consumer and knowing what the best products are.

So what is “Onyx” and why do I recommend it?

Let It Snow! Get Free HVAC Equipment if It Snows on Christmas

Wednesday, December 6th, 2017

Let_it_Snow_Webslider_v2_002_I know you’re probably super busy right now with the holiday season well underway, so you may have missed our major announcement about our “Let It Snow!” HVAC deal. It breaks down like this:

If it snows on Christmas, you get free HVAC equipment!

I’m not putting you on! I pride myself as an HVAC expert dog on providing only the most accurate information.

Here are the details of how it works: If you purchase new HVAC equipment from us between now and 12/20/17, and then it snows at least two inches on Christmas Day (measured from the McGhee Tyson Airport), then the equipment you purchased is FREE! To participate, you must be a legal resident of Tennessee and 18 years or older. All you need to do is purchase a qualifying heating or cooling system from us before or on December 20, 2017.

Why would we do something like this? Because it’s a great way to celebrate the season of giving. We love our customers, and we want to give them something great during the holiday season.

Even if you think your current heating system is in good shape, maybe you want to take the time to put in a new air conditioner to get ready for next year. If so, now’s the best time to do it! And if you have any reason to think your heater is due for an upgrade, act now and you may end up paying nothing for it! You can celebrate by playing outside in the snow on Christmas Day, then come back into your house knowing that the heat greeting you is coming from a brand-new furnace that’s now FREE.

Contact us to find out more details—and, of course, to purchase your new HVAC equipment!

Stay warm (but hope for snow!)

Olive

Thinking Like Goldilocks when Installing a New Air Conditioner

Tuesday, April 26th, 2016

When teaching people about air conditioning, it sometimes helps to turn to unusual sources. I could pull out my dog-eared (heh) copy of Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 19th Edition to help explain how important it is to have the right-sized air conditioner installed in your home. But I’d rather use this old copy of Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes, because I discovered that Goldilocks can teach the same lesson just as well!

Why a Professional Heat Load Calculation Is Crucial for New Air Conditioning Installation

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015

When you are in the market for home air conditioning installation, whether for a new house or to replace an older system, one of the most important steps to take is to properly size the new unit. An air conditioner must match the cooling requirements of a home, or else the system will run ineffectively and inefficiently.

3 Benefits of Installing Zone Control for Your Air Conditioning

Monday, June 1st, 2015

What is a zone control system? It’s a way of dividing up your home into different air conditioning “zones” (usually separate rooms, although sometimes just the upstairs and downstairs) that can be controlled separately from each other. The standard central AC cools down the whole house each time it comes on, sending air to each room vent. With zone control, dampers close off sections of the ductwork so that certain rooms won’t receive conditioned air. Local thermostats control the dampers, and these thermostats network into a central control panel.
